USING  OUR  TALENTS

 

          The responsibility for the congregation lies with the Kirk Session which consists of 30 Elders.

 

Using their particular gifts, more than half of the Congregation participate in Teams which are formed to carry out specific aspects of our congregational work          

 

TEAMS

 

ADMIN / OFFICE  TEAM 

· Manage incoming and outgoing mail

· Maintain Church Membership Roll

· Update church web-site

· Produce and distribute Monthly Magazine

· Produce literature for Services etc.

· Staff church office P/T mornings

Arrange rotas – church officer duties

                            Vestibule duties

                            Security duties

                            Offering duties

· Supervise and service office machines

· Deal with enquiries at church office and telephone

Organise publicity of a general nature internally and externally

 

 

 

 

 

EDUCATION  TEAM 

 To promote adult Christian Education at all levels in the congregations, by means of:-

·        the organisation of courses designed to deepen knowledge and understanding of the faith, and the encouragement of Bible study, individually or in groups

·the publicising of Christian literature through a regular Bookstall and other events

· the maintenance of a Church Library, incorporating audio and video material where appropriate

  the catering for such additional needs as may be identified in the future

 

FABRIC  TEAM 

 Responsible for :-

  Buildings

·     Services

·     Décor

·     Record keeping

·     Domestic including cleaning

·     Quinquennial inspections

 

FINANCE   TEAM 

manage systems to account for income

· monitor and control expenditure

· pay invoices for goods and services

· pay wages of employees and administering PAYE system

· produce accounts of income and expenditure

· provide other financial statistical information as requested

· comply with Assembly / Presbytery financial regulations

· operate Gift Aid Scheme, assembling and submitting claims and charity tax returns to Inland Revenue

· arrange audit of church accounts

· arrange audit of church organisations’ accounts

· research available grants / funding

· publicise availability of grants / funding to other teams

· make applications to funding bodies

 

 

MINISTRY   TEAM  

 “to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of  Christ may be built up”                                                 Ephesians 3:12

· To plan Sunday services in consultation with the minister and Team Leaders

· To arrange, in conjunction with the minister, the leading of Sunday services.

· To ensure appropriate provision for funerals, nursing home services etc.

· To provide training for those involved in the ministry of God’s Word (including Bible Study leaders, children’s and youth workers).

· To identify those with gifts in leading services and teaching God’s Word.

· To encourage the Music and Drama team by suggesting appropriate hymns, music and orders of service.

 

TTM  TEAM  (Time, Talents, Money)

 To teach Christian stewardship, making known the biblical teaching on the stewardship of our lives, our time, talents and possessions

· To identify resources available to the Church in terms of the time and talents of members and adherents

· To ensure that all members/adherents have the opportunity to give their time and use their talents in the service of Jesus Christ in our congregation and parish

· To educate members on the need for regular financial givings and publicising the different methods of giving available

· To ensure that this congregation complies with the ecological needs of our community

· To organise special events to raise funds for specific purposes

 

 

 

YOUTH  TEAM 

 To ensure that all Youth Organisations are actively encouraged to be involved in the life and witness of Queen’s Park Church.

· To provide support and advice for leaders and members of organisations with their involvement.

· To provide a line of communication between Youth Organisations and the Kirk Session.

· To ensure that Queen’s Park Church provides a safe and secure environment for our Youth Organisations.

· To raise awareness of the Youth activities to the congregation and promote congregational support and encouragement.

· To promote and  encourage interaction of Youth organisations

  To encourage involvement and interest of parents, siblings and the wider families of our youth.

 

HOSPITALITY  TEAM 

 To provide tea and coffee after the morning service.

· To provide Family Lunches when asked to do so.

· To provide the opportunity for those outwith the congregation as    well as our own members to meet and eat together in pleasant  surroundings.

· To organise and cater for special events including those for specific groups

 

PRAYER  TEAM 

 To encourage the development of personal prayer within the congregation.

· To give opportunity for collective prayer outwith services.

To arrange special times of prayer and /or materials for prayer when requested to do so by the Kirk Session or Mission Team.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

MISSION  TEAM

 To encourage members of the congregation and the Organisations to take every opportunity for outreach in their daily lives.

· To promote, organise and co-ordinate all outreach/mission events to the parish and beyond.

· To raise awareness of the need for evangelism.

· To train and equip people for evangelism.

· To promote and publicise special evangelistic events.

 

MUSIC  AND  DRAMA  TEAM 

 To discuss and plan the use of music and drama  in congregational  worship.

· To develop and lead music and drama in congregational worship

· To advise and be a resource for other groups

To participate musically in the life of the church

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

PASTORAL  TEAM 

 Identify and allocate visitors for members of our congregation who are either sick, infirm, or housebound at home, hospital, or care       home.

· Befriend people in care homes who may not be members of our congregation.

· Set up a telephone befriending service for any member of the congregation who may require this.

· Set up a  welcome committee to be on duty on Sunday to ensure that all visitors are made welcome.

· Support those who are recently bereaved. We are aware that this would require specialised training.

· Look at ways by which we can support families when there is a sudden change to the norm i.e. a new born baby, a member of the family suddenly taken unwell and admitted to hospital. This help may come in the form of baby sitting or carrying out some of the household chores.

· Escort service for those on their own, while they attend hospital appointments.
